Fresh off her second stint as All My Children’s “real Greenlee,” Rebecca Budig has grabbed a guest-starring gig on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother.

In one of this season’s final episodes, Budig will play Holly, a new girlfriend of Ted’s, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

The casting of Budig is perhaps 17 percent extra-interesting to longtime AMC viewers who know that Abigail Spencer (who played Pine Valley’s virginal Becca Tyree) also has “dated” Ted. Spencer played “Blah Blah,” a Season 3 girlfriend whose name Ted could never remember.

The same two actresses sharing a Josh (Radnor vs. Duhamel)… . I could go on for days with the coinky-dinks. But of greater/actual concern to the HIMYM fan is the fact that Budig’s appearance, sources tell me, will set the table for a small tease as to the titular Mother’s identity. For a bit more on that, you’ll have to keep an eye out for this week’s Mitovich Mega Minute.

Tony tries to make amends to Ted for stealing Stella from him, and Barney experiments to see if he can talk his way out of a speeding ticket — but his subsequent shenanigans get him tossed in the slammer…

RICHARD GREENLEAF: - Tony’s friend, this truly creepy multi-millionaire has eyes “dark with a chilly emptiness which robs all hope from whomever they gaze upon.” Tony introduces him to Ted, whom Richard wants to hire to build a “laundry room” in his basement. But Richard’s specifications for the sound-proofed, double-padlocked area seem more appropriate to a torture chamber than a laundry. Needless to say, Richard’s psycho mannerisms and bizarre demands seriously freak Ted out…GUEST STAR (23)

SEXY FEMALE COP: - This attractive female cop pulls Barney over. Far from being charmed by his attempts to flirt with her, she gets righteously ticked off and places him under arrest…8 lines, 1 scene (38)

Ted meets a girl he likes, HOLLY, and is annoyed by Marshall and Barney’s insistence that he obey the “Three Days Rule” and wait three days before he calls her. When Barney and Marshall decide to play a practical joke on Ted, they come to rely on some brilliant help from STAN, a big guy with a poetic streak who captivates Marshall, Barney and Robin…

[HOLLY] Late 20’s, this very attractive woman at the bar clearly hits it off with Ted as they chat. Sweet, genuine, and charming, Holly isn’t at all bothered by the fact that Ted called her right after they met (as opposed to waiting the obligatory three days), and finds it very romantic. However, on one of her first dates with him she scares him off by doing the exact things he usually does prematurely: mentioning marriage, talking about travelling together, and saying “I love you”…GUEST STAR (1)

[STAN] Large and kind of scary looking, Stan is a part-time security guard who works nights and who bumps into Marshall and Barney at MacLaren’s and helps them with their “romantic” fake texts to Ted. Simultaneously down to earth and poetic, Stan makes some outstanding suggestions for some really evocative lines, prompting Marshall to describe him as “one part wise sage, one part old school romantic” and moving both Barney and Marshall almost to tears. They get a bit obsessed with him, but it’s Robin who actually goes out with him…GUEST STAR (25)
